I created a spreadsheet to track my budget, there's no need to sign up to their service as good as it looks. The book itself is well-written, but I wanted to leave a review mainly based on the system itself. I cannot tell you how relieved I feel, even though we have nothing additional other than food & bills, I know this is only temporary, the fact my mortgage is being paid is enough (oh, and my kids are being fed) and I truly hope somebody in my situation reads this review and it helps them realise there is light at the end of the tunnel This means as soon as my hubby goes back to work I'm banking on living on last months pay check within 3 months and then concentrating on paying off debt (yep we have a lot) and also a holiday later in the year and also budgeting for 1 family meal out a month as we have never done that before as we were always skint each month. Now that I can see what we can/are actually surviving on I have absolutely no idea where that additional 1k went every month as we have absolutely nothing to show for it. We also haven't had to borrow any money from my parents to survive on which is what we would have done had I not done this budget. I've had to have a conversation with our mortgage company incase things got really bad but fortunately they haven't as we are now managing to just pay our bills and feed our family of 4 (2 teenagers) on our reduced income. I have to say it's taking me a while to get my head around their system but they always answer my emails and I've had to watch loads of youtube tutorials but this system has made a massive difference to our family.

They also don't ask for credit card details up front which is very refreshing but I will definitely be subscribing with them when my free trial expires. They also advised me to google them as I'd be able to get 3 months free that way instead of the 34 days they offer, so I did, which has saved me money. The book is very informative and makes a lot of sense so I went to their web page and spoke with a member of staff via webchat who advised me to start a budget immediately as my husband has had an accident and is on sick pay for approx 3/4 months so our income has dropped by approx 1k per month, which is a lot of money, to us anyway. I received a couple of emails about this book and ignored them and then thought I'd take a look.

When I'm not writing about, speaking on, or doing my own budgeting, I enjoy growing as much food as possible on my little third of an acre in suburbia, lifting heavy weights, and just living life one moment at a time. I love seeing them make positive changes to their lives that will pay dividends far into the future.īorn and raised in Arizona, I now live in Utah with my beautiful wife (who's quite the Crossfitter, ask her about it and she'll tell you everything you ever didn't want to know), and my six children.

I love helping people get a grip on their money.

I'm not a writer by training (I was trained as a CPA, remember?) so what my writing lacks in polish, it makes up for in personality. When people follow the YNAB Method, they break the paycheck to paycheck cycle, get out of debt, and save more money. We teach people my unique Four-Rule Method that completely transforms how they view and manage their money. Jesse Mecham’s simple rules make it easy to get what you want most by forgoing things you won’t miss.I'm a recovering CPA that started a company called "You Need A Budget" (Y-NAB, if you're busy) while in college. Managing your money doesn’t have to be stressful. Read this book, follow his advice, then watch your bank account grow and your financial worries fade. Jesse Mecham has achieved the impossible: a book on budgeting that is fascinating, entertaining, and practical. You will learn that the true secret of using a budget is to get more out of life, not to feel restricted.”

Jesse Mecham finally gives budgeting a much-needed rebranding with You Need a Budget. Vicki Robin coauthor of “Your Money or Your Life” His system is psychologically and financially sound. His principles and tools come right out of his own life experience, but also from his CPA training. He understands how financial stress feels. When Jesse Mecham says it, it’s like a door swinging open to a free life. When your financial planner says you need a budget, it’s like a door slamming shut on a happy future.
